GSplit Editor's Review

GSplit is a valuable piece of free software designed to help you split larger files into several smaller ones. You can split pretty much anything no matter the size or the format. Batch file splitting is also possible. Files won't be compressed, but if you really want to, you can add an extra program, Paquet Builder , a program that can compress files into Self-Extracting archives.

Splitting files with GSplit is extremely easy and convenient: you can set the thread priority, you can choose the size or number of each file piece, choose a custom name mask, etc. You can choose to split files into spanned pieces on different disks or you can split files into blocked pieces- file pieces with a specific size determined by you.

The best thing is the fact that when splitting a file, the program will also create, if you want to, a Self-Uniting functionality (SFU); this means that you can transfer the file pieces on to other drives and reunite them without having 'GSplit' installed. The 'SFU' can also be customized: add a welcome message, choose custom destinations, perform different actions after re-uniting files, etc. Customized splitting tasks can be saved as profiles for later use.
And, in case you are really in a hurry, you can use the 'Split Express' feature: you will only have to choose the source file, target destination and size of each piece.

Pluses: The splitting speed is very fast; files up to 1 Gb have been split and reunited in less than a minute. Windows context menu integration. Fast splitting with 'Split Express'. CRC file integrity check when reuniting the files.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: Considering its functionality, extremely nice GUI and the fact that it's free, this program is a must have. Excellent!
